Have you ever heard of The Sheepdogs?
They’re an up and coming Canadian band thats been getting plenty of publicity these days from a cover on Rolling Stone magazine to an appearance on Jimmy Fallon.
Earlier this week, Whiskey and I took a walk over to Trinity Bellwoods Park to watch them film their new music video.
The bandstand that normally sits vacant in the dog park was turned into a stage for a Woodstock-like scene with fans dressed up as 60s/70s hippies.
While the crew was setting up for another shot, the band took a break on a little picnic table nearby. They whipped out an acoustic guitar and started playing along with spectators hanging out around the top of the hill (like Whiskey and me!)
I really wish that we could have seen them actually perform on stage, but I’ve been lucky enough to catch them at a concert before with Amy (who got to see them again last night at a concert downtown).
I think my favorite part was seeing all the retro stuff they had set up for the shoot. It was great seeing these old VW buses put to good use.
The band is familiar with the park, having performed during a NXNE event there last Spring. I wish I could have seen them perform at that year’s festival.
It will be great to see the video when it comes out and remember stopping by to see it. And of course I’m excited for a great Canadian band to get some much deserved success!
