Family Friends Party Wedding

Our Family Engagement Brunch

To celebrate our engagement and upcoming wedding, my family hosted a lovely engagement brunch during the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. Everyone was home from school and work, so it was a great opportunity to get the two families together for the first time, as well as introduce some of the wedding party.

I was kept completely in the dark about what they were doing and was in shock when I came in and found the mantel all done up. I loved all the fall colours they used – bright red, orange and yellow patterns. It looked so great and I got all choked up that my family took the time to put it together.

My brother and sister did a fantastic job on the pennant banners, using cutout letters and different patterned backgrounds.

My great aunt Marian was so sweet, and bought the amazing cake for the occasion. I love the ombre roses in fall colours and the little leaves everywhere. The bottom layer was vanilla with strawberry and cream filling with the top layer of vanilla with lemon curd filling. They both tasted fantastic and I’m hoping we can go to a cake testing with the baker for our wedding cake too.

Our favourite caramel popcorn was packaged up in these adorable jars as favours for the guests to take home.

The labels said “He Popped the Question”. So cute!

The whole setup was awesome. There was also a table setup with all the great brunch foods – eggs, sausages, homemade scones, the strata we make during the holidays (one of my favourites!), plus lots of fresh fruit and veggies. All the food was so good!

mimosa-bar

In the living room, the bar was setup as a Mimosa Bar, complete with a banner, champagne flutes, champagne and selection of juices.

The peach mimosas were my favorite. I had a couple of them before we had brunch.

The centrepieces were fresh cut flowers, similar to what we did for Thanksgiving this year. Gerbera daisies (one of my favourites!), with yellow button mums and red-tipped orange roses.

Garrett’s brother and his girlfriend also gave us a beautiful bouquet of roses for the occasion. Afterwards, my mom hung the bouquet in the laundry room for me to dry the roses for a wreath someday.

There were even pictures of us, our families and our beloved pooch Whiskey setup throughout the house, as well as a digital picture frame showing pictures throughout the years. We were both so touched that they hosted such a fun event for us to celebrate!

Such a cute party. I love the “He popped the question” on the candy popcorn.
