As of tomorrow, I’ll be officially 37 weeks and full term! Meaning this baby could potentially come at any time. I just starting having really vivid dreams this week about her being born, and when I pop into the nursery I can already picture her there. I’ve still got a few things left to check off the Pregnancy To Do List before she gets here, but I guess she’ll come whenever she is ready.
Week 33
The folks at The Baby Show Toronto sent us free tickets to stop by and meet some of the vendors. There were some really interesting people that I had the chance to meet with, like the super friendly Julie of Jule’s Wellness. I grabbed a few goodies from her shop to stock up on before baby gets here.
I also couldn’t get over all the cute baby clothing shops. These leggings (and the matching headbands!) from Ollie Jones were adorable. I loved that they’re designed and made in Toronto, Ontario!
One of the big things I was on the look out for at the show was cloth diapers. Garrett and I have both talked about wanting to try cloth diapering, even if it’s just when we’re at home and we use disposables when we’re on the go. We sat through a great demonstration by the lovely ladies from Diaper-Eez about how to cloth diaper, which styles to consider and how to wash them. In the end, I bought three of these diapers from Lil Helpers with bamboo and charcoal inserts. Not only do they come in cute colours, but I love that you can use them from 7-35 lbs, so we can try them right away.
The hidden gem I was most excited about – Kin, an awesome organic nut-free skin care line for babies and mamas. I have a really hard time finding products that are safe for my allergies, which led me to make my own DIY Nut-Free Belly Butter throughout the pregnancy. You better believe I was ecstatic when I found out that this company was free of shea butter and nut oils. I grabbed their diaper balm, nipple balm and baby oil to try out. They are one of the vendors that I can get a discount through with my Healthy Moms Toronto member card.
Week 34
My in-laws were so thoughtful and bought us a stand-up freezer for the mudroom. What a great baby gift! It has been so great to stock up on frozen fruits, vegetables, pizzas, etc for when the baby arrives. I’ve been making extras of some of our favourite freezer-friendly dishes, including these Nut Free Chewy Granola Bars for snacks.
I shared A Day in the Life update, as a way to document how our life is right now and compare it to the changes that will undoubtedly come. As excited as I am about this baby coming, I’m also trying to soak up these last few weeks as just the two of us. I swear the dogs know that something is up and are extra cuddly these days.
Week 35
We’ve been making some big progress in the nursery, but I’m waiting until after she gets here for the big reveal. There are still a few more things to put up and some sewing projects to finish, but hopefully, we can get it all done soon.
My mom went with me this week to pick the last few pieces of fabric I needed. On the left is the window treatment I’m making (with a pom pom trim!), a crib skirt on the bottom and the super cute organic Peter Rabbit crib sheet she found at Pottery Barn. It’s fun to see it all coming together!
It’s been a big push to get most things done on my Pregnancy To Do List, including packing the hospital bags. I’ve got all the baby goodies in the diaper bag I picked up a couple of months ago and everything for me and Garrett in the big duffle bag, along with two big pillows. I went to my annual dentist check up this week and they gave me extra toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss to add to the bag – so thoughtful!
Week 36
I’m now having weekly visits with my midwives and the conversation has changed from talking about mostly prenatal care, to the more serious discussions on how to stay comfortable waiting for this baby to arrive! Both Garrett and my mom have had the chance to come with me to an appointment and meet them. Seeing as they’ll both be with me when I’m labouring (along with Garrett’s mom too), it’s nice to have them onboard. I’ve also been taking this time to get all our regular health checkups up to date all around, including the dogs’ annual vet appointments. It’s much easier to take them now than it will be when I’ve got a baby in tow.
For the most part, I’ve been feeling really good right up to the end, with just some minor discomfort from trying to maneuver around this huge bump. I’ve definitely hit the point where it is hard to bend over, eat big meals or stay comfortable in one place for very long. I have no idea how women do it with twins! As much as I anxiously await her getting here, I think I’ll miss being pregnant as well, especially when I know she is so safe and comfy in there.
This weekend is my baby shower and I cannot wait to see all the lovely ladies in my life in one room. What a treat! I was able to find a great wrap dress that by some miracle still fits with this big bump. I’ve been living in maternity jeans and yoga pants the last couple of weeks, so it’s nice to have a special occasion to dress up for!
I’m not sure if I’ll make it all the way to 40 weeks before I post the next update, but we’ll have to wait and see. For updates, be sure to follow me on Instagram!
