Earlier this month we were invited to a first birthday party for my cousin Mark and his wife Lisa’s little girl, Avery.
It was a beautiful, hot summer day out in the country, celebrating this sweet little one.
Lisa came up with the cutest theme – Dr. Seuss! They had decorations and treats everywhere inspired by the books. I love these fuzzy trees she made from pool noodles, garden stakes and Tissue Paper Pom Poms.
How sweet are these Cat in the Hat stacked hats with sliced bananas and strawberries on oreo cookies? And Jelly beans for Trufulla Seeds!
Colourful goldfish crackers for 1 Fish, 2 Fish.
Green coloured devilled eggs and sliced ham for Green Eggs n’ Ham.
Orange Punch with this cute cutout shapes for The Lorax.
This photo booth with Thing 1 and Thing 2 was a big hit with the kids…and adults, ha!
As luck would have it, Avery was born on Mark and Lisa’s first wedding anniversary last year, so they incorporated some of the decorations from their Beautiful Rustic Summer Wedding into the party decor.
I loved seeing all the pictures of her growing throughout the year – it went by so fast!
This beautiful wooden tiered stand held the cupcakes at their wedding – and worked out perfectly for her birthday too!
I especially loved the Thing 1 and Thing 2 cupcake liners. So cute!
One of my favourite parts of first birthdays is seeing the kids get into their first real bite of cake.
It doesn’t take them long to realize how good it is…and how nice it is to smash it all up, ha!
It was our first time bringing Lucy to a party and she was such a good baby, even with the crazy heat we’d been having. I think she looks so much like Garrett in this picture…
…but maybe a little like me in this one too.
It was also the first time she got to meet most of her second cousins (two boys were at a soccer game)…and we’ve got another girl on the way this fall!
These two rambunctious cuties have a little sister coming soon.
Lisa was such a great help during my pregnancy with lots of tips and advice, as she’d just gone through it all herself. I’m glad that our girls will be so close in age too!
It was a great day celebrating with family. Avery took a real liking to my dad, as most kids do. He’s got a real knack with them.
I just love this cheeky little grin she did looking back at him. Such a cutie!
