Baby’s First Easter Basket

I’ve looked forward to every holiday this year, with each one being Lucy’s first. Holidays have a little extra sparkle to them now and I can’t help but get excited. It’s less than two weeks until Easter now and I couldn’t resist putting together a little Easter basket for her with some goodies. While she is only ten months and is still too young to get what’s going on, I love the traditions that we’re starting as a family.

It didn’t take much to fill a cute little basket with a few things to keep her happy on the holiday weekend. I’ve put together a list below of a few things we’re tucking away in her basket as well as some of our Lucy approved must-haves.

I think she’s just happy whenever there is something new going on. She’s quite the little adventurer.

My favourite part has been picking out the books. I love a good story book and anything about cute little animals just gets me every time. I found Peter Rabbit Easter Egg Hunt in a sweet little British shop on our trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake last weekend and I was so tickled when I saw it. My mother and mother-in-law hosted a Beatrix Potter baby shower for us last year and much of Lucy’s nursery is bunnies (including adorable Peter Rabbit crib sheets). The artwork in Bunny Roo, I Love You is by Teagan White, who also did the illustrations for the first book I bought for Lucy not long after I found out I was expecting. The last book is all about Bunnies by Richard Scarry, who was one of my favourite children’s book authors when I was little.

Just look at these cute illustrations by Teagan White. It’s a lovely book that I can’t wait to read to Lucy.

But my favourite is the Peter Rabbit one. It is full of flaps and tags to pull, so I may tuck it away until she’s a bit older.

The rest of her basket is full of little toys and treats like her favourite organic cereal puffs, and organic creamies. The eggs are empty right now, but I’m going to tuck a few little cereal pieces in some and let her have a little Easter egg hunt around the living room. I showed them to her while I was putting the basket together and she was definitely interested in the eggs, so it should be fun to see her scooting around the room to investigate them.

I found these adorable eyelet bunny ears at Target when we were in Florida and thought I’d let her try them on while I took photos of the basket. She didn’t bother with them and was much more interested in what was going on with the eggs.

This sweet little bunny just melts my heart.
