A couple of weekends ago I went to a birthday party for my friend’s 5 year old daughter. As soon as I walked in the door, I was floored by the amazing “Under the Sea” candy bar she’d made to go with the “The Little Mermaid” theme.
It looked amazing, with a wide selection of purple and turquoise treats that had both kids and adults flocking to it.
She had cute little boxes and bags to fill and used various glass containers, such as margarita glasses and stemless wine glasses to give the display different heights. The little sea-themed labels stuck on colourful pipe cleaners were super cute.
A big dispenser of blue juice was a nice touch and let guests help themselves.
She found most of the purple and turquoise goodies at the bulk food store. The sea shells were made with a chocolate mold.
I think the little sharks were my favourite.
The star of the show truly was the incredible tiered cake that my friend’s über talented sisters made together. They also made her butterflies and flowers 3rd birthday cake as well.
I love all the details in each tier from the ombre fish scales at the top, the seaweed and edible shells on the second and the waves around the Ariel figurine on the bottom. It was so beautiful. And it tasted amazing too.
The rest of the party was just as fun – face painting (check out my sunset design on Instagram), gifts, cutting the cake, balloons and a party pizza. The inside pizza squares are the best…no crusts. What more could a 5 year old want? (Who am I kidding, I still love it at 28).
