With Christmas looking a little different this year, I’ve been trying to come up with new ways to make the holidays special within our home. That’s how the idea of a Christmas Coffee Bar came about – a space where we can make some fun holiday drinks like you’d get in a fancy coffee shop. The setup was super easy and used many things we already had in the cupboards, but when they’re all gathered together it feels like something special. The star of the show is our new Hamilton Beach 2-Way FlexBrew Coffee Maker – it is perfect for making coffee, tea or hot chocolate for everyone. I also have a GIVEAWAY where one lucky reader will win their own Hamilton Beach FlexBrew 2-Way Coffee Maker for the holidays!! (Entry details at the end of this post)
Having the Christmas Coffee Bar in the kitchen has made it really fun to get creative with the kids. We have coffee or tea and they make hot chocolate, all using our Hamilton Beach 2-Way Flex Brew Coffee Maker. They love having free rein to make fun and tasty concoctions. If we had company coming over for the holidays this year, I could see this being a big hit too. This might just have to become an annual tradition! Here are a few tips on how to set up your own.
How to Make a Christmas Coffee Bar
Start off by finding a good space for your Christmas Coffee Bar that isn’t going to get in the way of your main kitchen area. We have a small counter area to the right of our sink where the coffee maker and mugs live all year long. I started by taking everything off the bottom kitchen shelves to make room for the mugs, ingredients and a few decorations. Don’t have counter space? Try setting up your coffee bar on a small table, dresser, bar cart or sideboard in another room. Anywhere that gives you some space to arrange all the goodies.
You can put anything you like in your Christmas Coffee Bar, but here are a few things I gathered up for ours:
- Hamilton Beach FlexBrew 2-Way Coffee Maker (one machine that can make coffee, tea and hot chocolate!)
- assorted ground coffees and k cup coffees, teas and hot chocolates (use a fun Christmas cookie jar to store them!)
- cinnamon sticks (makes a great stir stick)
- candy canes (use as a stir stick or to crush and sprinkle on top)
- mini marshmallows
- sprinkles, cinnamon or nutmeg for garnishing drinks
- variety of jars to hold toppings, sugar, sweetener, k cups, etc
- cookies & treats (check out my Christmas Cookie Calendar for ideas)
- assorted mugs (clear ones are great for seeing your holiday beverage creations)
- small spoons, plates and napkins
- tray or cutting board to arrange everything
- ornaments, ribbons and greenery to decorate
Once I figured out where I was going to set up the Christmas Coffee Bar, it was just a matter of adding all the ingredients and toppings. I like using clear jars for the cinnamon sticks, candy canes, marshmallows and cookies so you can see them. The k cups are stored in the cookie jar and I have sugar in the white and gold jar. Our regular coffee and filters are tucked in the cupboard below for easy access.
Loving our Hamilton Beach FlexBrew 2-Way Coffee Maker
We’ve been using the Hamilton Beach FlexBrew 2-Way Coffee Maker throughout the holiday season and love how easy it is to use. It fits in so well with our white farmhouse kitchen. Last year I talked about how much we love our Hamilton Beach Bread Maker, and who knew that we would be using it so much this year. With both our coffee maker and bread machine, I appreciate how well made and well designed these home appliances from Hamilton Beach are. They are definitely getting plenty of use when we’re all spending more time home than ever.
With the Hamilton Beach FlexBrew 2-Way Coffee Maker, both the carafe and singles sides can be programmed. We make ground coffee in the 12-cup carafe or put k cups of speciality coffees, teas and hot chocolate on the singles side. The singles side also has a small brew basket filter that you can use to make a single cup with regular coffee grounds as well.
Inside the cup rest on the singles side is a storage compartment for the brew basket or k cup holder. The cup rest can be pulled out to make space for larger travel mugs too.
