When the warmer weather arrives, Garrett loves to get out in the backyard and grill our dinners. This year I surprised him with a very special early Father’s Day present – a bigger BBQ to accommodate our growing family. I knew it was something he’d really appreciate and I was so excited to see that Wayfair.ca now carries grills, as well as <fire pits! Really this is a gift for me too – he loves it so much that he’s happy to grill up dinner on the BBQ any night and save this pregnant mama from being in the kitchen.
I knew I was looking for a larger BBQ than what we had before and that he really liked the infrared feature that we already had, so I was glad I was able to find such a wide variety of grills on Wayfair.ca, and use their search filters to narrow down what I was looking for. I ended up picking this CharBroil Performance TRU-Infrared 3-Burner Propane Gas Grill with Side Burner.
It gives us plenty of space for grilling meat, veggies and more. I even have a dessert recipe that you can make on your BBQ farther down in this post.
Having a larger grill has been especially helpful when we’ve had family and friends over.
I’m so pleased with the quality of this BBQ we found on Wayfair.ca and the sleek stainless steel design. They have a great selection of everything you need for summer entertaining, from grills and fire pits to patio furniture and backyard playsets, they’ve got you covered. The delivery was super fast too – I had the BBQ in just a few days and we put it together in one afternoon. He could hardly wait to start grilling!
Needless to say, he was very happy when he found out about the big surprise. It was the perfect early Father’s Day gift that we’ll use for years to come.
Grilled Strawberry Shortcake Kebabs
I love trying different recipes on the BBQ – not just the usual burgers, steaks and veggies. Did you know that you can make your dessert on the grill too?
These Grilled Strawberry Shortcake Kebabs are easy to put together and only take a few minutes on the grill. They’re a great last minute dessert if you have guests over for a BBQ dinner.
The shortcake gets a little crispy and the strawberries are bursting with flavour. Serve them up warm from the grill, with crème fraîche, whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Another great BBQ’d dessert to try is Grilled Pineapple with Whipped Coconut Cream. I’m sharing that and more of my favourite BBQ season recipe at the end of the post.
- 2 lb container of strawberries, washed and hulled
- 1 store-bought angel food cake
- strawberry jam
- wooden skewers
- crème fraîche, whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
- Preheat grill to medium heat.
- Cut the angel food cake into 1-1/2” cubes. Remove the stems on strawberries and cut the larger ones in half.
- Hold a pair of skewers slightly apart, and alternate threading on strawberries and cake cubes. Repeat until all the kabobs have been made.
- Brush strawberries with strawberry jam.
- Grill for 1-2 minutes per side, using a spatula to get under cake pieces if they start to stick to the grill.
- Serve with crème fraîche, whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
